Here’s a Recipe You Can Make with Charcoal Noodles

Apparently, charcoal is the latest food fad. Yes, charcoal is the new black when it comes to food. And it’s cropping up in everything from macarons to summer drinks.

Foodies claim it’s great for treating everything from a hangover to bloating. So, it’s no surprise supermarkets and online retailers are turning basic foods black.

Below is Charcoal Noodles with Seafood recipe should you want to give this food trend a try:


  • 4 tablespoons organic olive oil
  • 500g local prawns (or other seafood of your choice like muscles, scallops, fish or calamari)
  • 200g organic charcoal noodles
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 brown onion, diced
  • Juice of 1 lemon, pour it over the seafood
  • 1 small chili, finely chopped
  • Black pepper and Himalayan salt to taste


  1. Cook the noodles according to the directions on the packet.
  2. In a large fry pan heat up the olive oil and cook seafood for 5 minutes or until it has changed in color.
  3. Add the onion, garlic and chili, stirring for a further 5 minutes or until onion has browned.
  4. Finally, add the cooked charcoal noodles, toss to combine, season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
